They got into an argument, my step mother busted the lights out in their room, broke the door and made a massive whole in the bedroom wall. I don’t know why he is resistant to meeting anywhere else.
I won’t go to the house because of her. I’ve had constant issues with verbal abuse for the past 5 years. What happened that night was the final straw so to spew.
I think OP said that his girlfriend doesn't do it herself either. She has said that now she's in a relationship she won't be travelling with friends of any gender. So as OP puts it, she is at least morally consistent and I commend her for that. And OP is morally consistent too, he wants to go away with a friend, and is okay with his girlfriend doing the same.
The problem is that their wishes here are incompatible, so the question is whether they will be happy if one of them caves to the other, or whether they can find a compromise they both agree on.
This comment sums it up. A marriage means having a partner who will be your rock, give you strength when you need it, knowing you have someone at your back to support you.
OP – Your husband is showing that when you need him to support you, he is no where, giving poor excuses and saying: you can turn to others if you need help, a shoulder to cry on, or support you.
If you partner/husband doesn't support you at a time you need him to give you emotional support and strength, then does he care for you and your marriage? It seems not.
When he says: it's only one day you have sisters… it should dawn on him that he could be there for you for that only one day. You shouldn't need your sisters to give you strength and support.
He shows a lack of empathy, a lack of caring for you.
However, how long should I keep this going if he doesn't become official with me and actually ask me to be his girlfriend?
If you'd asked this six months ago, I would have said 'a week or so'.
'Situationships' are a very modern development that are pretty rubbish for all involved. Either commit or don't – simple as.
You are what's called “The exception to the rule”. A rarity. You can be friends with people because you like them, but you're acting like this is YOU we're talking about. Yeah you're innocent and all that. But OP's gf is super shady and you know it. Would your partner be cool with you
Hanging out at a work colleague's(the opposite gender and same sexual orientation as you) house all by yourself? Spending the night at that colleague's house? Going out alone with that colleague again even though your partner doesn't want you to?
