Came here to say something like this. OP sounds enamored of the style and attitude, but let’s not mistake that for substance. These dudes probably don’t like OP because she doesn’t have the right look or ability to take on the cadence of the scene, which in my experience is what’s most important to lots of cool people. I’ve been somewhat a part of some cool scenes and I’m pretty sure a lot of them are petty popularity contests. 30 is old enough to know that that’s a transient and fickle thing to base life decisions on. I’ve found great people in all kinds of places, and there are surely some in whatever scene OP is a part of. But I’ve found most cool people to be unreliable, as they’re always ready to move on to the next thing that’ll give them a little more social cache. Your mindset is normal, please stop beating yourself up. Once you give yourself a little grace in this area you'll be able to stop holding on so tightly.
