Even if a partner’s boundaries are based on mysoginistic stereotypes, we still have to respect consent with our partners. We can try to educate them and hope they change their view, but violating your partner’s comfort does not resolve anything.
OP’s partner has set a boundary. OP has indirectly set her own boundary now too that this is impacting her mental health. I suggested alternative solutions they could mutually try within those boundaries to achieve a common goal. Doesn’t mean I agree with his boundary, but if they can’t find a way to work within each other’s boundaries then their only solution is to break up.
And also try to be respectful of your partner in your choices next time.
