Personally, I hate flowers with a passion. The cut-florwer industry is highly unethical using and polluting water of poor communities. The high use of pesticides in the industry means that workers face high rates of cancer and other injuries. Not to mention the desertification of land that comes from that comes from the monocultures. Plus I like gardening myself, so I may as well just grow my own roses to give to a partner. At least that takes some effort as opposed to spending 10 dollars at the grocery store.
I don't know if your partner shares my ethical concerns or if they are just stingy. Is it only with flowers that they take issue? Are they comfortable giving you other kinds of gifts?

You have to follow your own path, but the best suggestion is that she gets counseling, and if she insists on going, have her sign separation papers, giving you full custody and get her off all joint bank accounts and credit cards.
