His mom raised him and his siblings alone after his parents' divorce when he was really young and she didn't remarry until he was in high school. One problem is that people always compare themselves to those above them, not those below them.
I have this debate with my wife a lot. She says “we don’t fit in with the people in town.” She feels that way because our town has a population of rich looking folks in mansions with fancy cars. So that’s what she notices. But if you look at demographics? We make more than 85% of residents. We are the richer folks in town. But we don’t have a mansion or drive new luxury cars so she can’t see it.
She also doesn’t see that for every mansion on 5 acres of land there are 50 houses of middle and lower class people.
