Whoa whoa I think you’re blowing this out of proportion. Even my ex would say in his words that we would fight over small things. The only thing I recall fighting over were these things and it wasn’t so constant. If he is saying that you did something wrong by VENTING even if it might've been to the wrong person, you should not stay with him. You stopped the flirtatious behaviour with your friend the moment it started it seems like, and even told him about it, which IMO is a very trustworthy thing to do. Your friend also does not respect the boundaries in place for your relationship if he is going to take advantage of the fact you are upset with your partner to try and slide in, you should most likely cut him off too.
White male so take this with a grain of salt, but here’s my logic as someone who tries to be sensitive about this kind of stuff;
When my grandma b*tches about a non-white James Bond, I tell her to shut up because the color of the James Bond has no bearing over how fitting he will be as a character. Cosplaying is similar, in your own cosplay universe, the character you’re playing is a dark Asian person and to me that’s just fine. Especially if you’re not portraying the character in a mocking way then I just have no idea what there would be to be upset about, seems to me the rule should work both ways, don’t make fun of someone because of their skin color and there is no issue.
I will say there are some exceptions to this too though, like I wouldn’t cosplay as Django (Django Unchained) because that would very hot to interpret as any way but mocking (fat, white, privileged Django?)
