If he gets all the physical and emotional benefits of a micro relationship from you, but does not have to invest much to get it and can leave his playing field open – that’s a pretty low effort, non scary option, and lots of men will take it.
If you keep putting yourself in a position where you don’t align sexual intimacy with the overall romantic situation you actually want, and set clear boundaries that you enforce around it, this will keep happening.
