My guess is that she was originally telling this guy that the relationship was in a bad place. After a month or so of hooking up and her not leaving OP, this guy was probably telling her to leave OP because she kept talking about doing it and not actually doing it.
Since they are little you could try putting a kennel in the room for them?
So maybe it was on silent? Maybe he was enjoying the night with his son? Do you expect him to text you all day/night? Genuine question not trying to be snarky. If that’s the case, maybe he just needs a break. Though he should communicate that to you.
