  1. u/DifficultTomato3575, it looks like you're trying to post a throwaway submission. Your account is too young and/or your comment karma is too low.

The right way to do it is to create a brand new Reddit account that begins with ThrowRA.

Please create a new account that starts with ThrowRA in the username and try again. Please note that we will not make exceptions to this rule.

  2. Okay, I'd say the playing games part is pretty minor. The bigger problem is in how the communication is going.

Quite frankly, the part about “overreacting out of anxiety” feels very gaslight-y and borderline intimidating.

As easy as it would be for me to say, “stand up for yourself girl!” I think the smarter thing to do would be to evaluate the situation based on this question, “do you want this to happen every year?” We only get so many and there are tons of wonderful people in the world.

This whole thing kinda pisses me off and I hope he either gets a serious attitude adjustment or you get into a better situation.

tldr: you weren't overreacting, he was being an asshole.

  3. Addicts have the same pattern no matter what the substance is.

My ex-husband was the same about weed and alcohol. He was sneaking it around behind my back and thought I couldn’t track his spending when he’d cash some of his checks or withdraw cash from our joint account. I saw the pay stubs he’d bring home from his jobs and notice money was missing right away. ? Then there would be the old, “you can’t get addicted to weed” and “I can quit whenever I want, so stop pushing me to stop when I’m able to pay half the bills”. He wasn’t paying for shit because he kept getting fucking fired for attitude problems DUE TO THE WEED AND ALCOHOL.

You can’t help someone who’s addicted until they truly realize they have a problem. And even then they can fall off the wagon at any time. It’s why there’s no such thing as a cured addict, only a recovering one. It’s a constant battle after the addiction has been set in because it’s hot to fight back. The addict has to WANT to stop and stay away from what it is they’re addicted to.

I had a drug addict ex who also got into other drugs to fill the void of missing weed behind my back and unfortunately you have a porn addict. I’m sorry, OP.
