This is the girlfriend here, my partner left a huge details which is why I’m ending up so confused right now: I’ve known my partner for six years and for the first five years and his mother was part of the family life, I’m talking every birthdays, he invited her for Christmas and we were seeing each other every week, and my partner was totally fine with it (most of the time he was the one invited her around). He told me about the abuse a few years ago, but it was sporadically every few months and very much not a discussion for him, which I didn’t push further. Then, a few months ago, he said that he doesn’t want to speak with his mum but he said that he didn’t mind if our kids and I saw her, which I did since she’s the only family in our country and I want the kids to know where they come from. Now I feel like he’s resenting me for not understanding that he changed his mind but at the end of the day I’m so confused as to why it was ok for the first 5 years to see her and not anymore now.
In context of this debate, I’d like to add that I come from a very big French family and we’re all very close knit, no matter what, I’ve been raised to always value family first. No family is perfect, and my family has done their fair share of mistakes (mostly cheating scandals and remarriages), but we still stay strong together and learn to forgive (we even have all our celebrations and holidays with the step families of both sides without any problems anymore, just lots of love and gratefulness to be together)
Agreed. There are too many damned dogs in the world. Paying for another one to be bred into existence when there are so many sitting in shelters is the definition of unethical.

Why wouldn’t a good that is healthy for the most vulnerable and underdeveloped group of people NOT be healthy for someone else? It’s literally just puréed vegetables and fruits.
This is a throw away account so be as honest as possible if you actually want help. How often do you fight? Do you always use her faults as ammo in arguments? Do you feel like she does manipulate you?
