She was 25 years older, in love with him & did his finances for almost “free” and because he had a carpentry business, she was indispensible. He wasn't too financially savvy. She planted flowers at his house, picked up his mail, got curtains & bedspread, and set timers when he was remodeling (and not there). When I first moved in, she put 2 threatening notes on my car. Once he said “I'm going camping with my girlfriend” the word girlfriend set her off & she hung up the phone, then threatened to throw his fiances out. He vowed to find a real accountant, and ignored all her calls, emails & texts. Then he got a haircut in a stripmall next to the grocery store & it pinged her- she had his credit cards set up to alert her phone every time he bought something. When he finished grocery shopping she was waiting for him and pleaded for him back. She planted in his head I was a huge problem. When i changed the internet bill to my name to pay for it so it could be partialy reimbused from my company, she told him i was trying to get him audited because she claimed his office space in his taxes. We changed it back to his name but when I tried to download the bills, she had changed the password & the password recovery code to be sent to her phone & email (instead of him) because she knew I wanted it. When we went on vacation I paid for the hotel & rental car and he paid for the flights. I realized it would be better to fly in one location & fly out another as to not double back so I called the airline to change, we just paid the difference, and she said I was buying the wrong tickets & wasting his money (even tho I spent 5x more on our vacation than he did). His parents loved me… the accountant badmouthed me to him till he believed it. We briefly broke up once before reconciling & she drove over & saw me playing outside with the dog. She started yelling at him “why hasn't she moved out yet!!” After we broke up for real, she went to his house to wrap christmas gifts & bake cookies with him. She found out I was invited to his family christmas and flew off the handle asking who invited me- him or his mom. He called his mom & said “one of you is a liar & I'm going to find out who!!!!” “I finally got her out of his life and you invite her back in again, what kind of mother are you?!?!” And lots more over the 3.5 years. She also bought life insurance on him which was scary because she is unhinged. I felt relief she was out of my life when we broke up.
It doesn't seem like she will change or have any goals. It seems she's just comfortable in this situation.
