I would probably seek out therapy for you to help unpack what's happening here because from what little you've written it sounds like you're in the beginnings of an abusive relationship.
I would also start looking at legal counsel because the minute this behavior turns towards your son you want someone on your side to get you both out immediately.
Couple's counseling isn't going to help you, you both have to see an issue and want to work on things for that to have any impact.

Having a non-monogamous relationship isn’t wrong, I have a lot of friends who are in non-monogamous relationships. But, they’re all entirely aware of that, informed and didn’t start that journey by finding loopholes to cheat on their partners.

This. I’d even reach out to his old boss. Not only does it maybe get you some real answers if it’s like… brain tumor related, but it also puts that concern in his old work’s head and may make them more sympathetic, at least in the short term, and less likely to charge him with destruction of property/assault.
