I dont get what the big deal is……minor physical corrections are how literally every animal in the animal kingdom teaches their offspring not to do something.

Its only the last 50 years or so people have decided spanking children is wrong. OP, don't let him push you around and being disrespectful. When he acts like this, stop act like his girlfriend. Meet him at his level. Despite Depression (I know cleaning can be a struggle when you dive in that level) he can clean. He might need more time, maybe help, but stop all together? If he is this depressed, other things should also be a struggle. Being out. Go out drinking. Driving. All that would take a toll on him and it doesn't. So he can start clean.
