Being someone's girlfriend is not legally binding nor does it have any official significance whatsoever. So it's always curious when someone is this keen to force someone else to speak certain words, as if just uttering this incantation means you can't just break up the next day. This woman sound pushy and controlling. So maybe don't be so intent on getting her back. It doesn't sound like you were happy with her and having her in your life will always be about her telling you what to do and what not to do.

You are not being dramatic. Unfortunately, this is no longer a person you can rely on. You'll need to grieve the end of your bil/sil relationship and keep him beyond arm's length. He IS gross, and you need to stay away from him.
