Threatening suicide when you break up and try to leave is a manipulation tactic and abusive. He's trying to guilt you into staying while he takes no responsibility for being a piece of garbage and treating you with zero respect. If you're truly concerned for his safety, call the police, but continue to extract yourself from the situation. Also, remove him from your credit accounts—even get new cards if necessary. He doesn't own or control you, and it's absurd that he thinks he can lay claim over another human in that manner, especially when he clearly doesn't care for you.

Just reading the first paragraph, yes this is emotionally abusive. You shouldn’t have to put up with this. No matter how nice he is at other times.
