There are actually religious people who do what their religion tells them. Many muslims are way more strict with their religion. There also are still many christians that take is very seriously and will not have sex before marriage and stuff like that.
However can can it work when one person believes that the other person is an evil sinner who will go to hell for eternal damnation and the other person thinks that the partner is a lunatic who believes in an omnipotent and omniscient man that lives in the skies and is very good but for some reason has created things like cancer or insects that literally burrow into other animals eyes to lay there eggs there.
Also I saw you said you want to raise your children and tell them both versions. Do you not think that will confuse them immensely? I would rather have my children raised the christian way with stories about jesus and other stuff from the bible (since many still have really good morals) and when they get older they can start doubting it themselves as to have mommy tell them about god and daddy tell them about ateism and I also am an ateist.
