Yeah some of these comments are ridiculous. He was upfront about it and his views might be complicated by a number of factors. Something like 40% of marriages end in divorce and it's pretty depressing to see people going into marriages assuming they'll end. Mostly it's a financial decision. If it doesn't make sense financially then there's really no point until the benefit outweighs the parts that don't make sense. If people don't have kids or own property, it's not nearly as pressing.
Definitely bummed about the comment where the person's relative had been with a guy over a decade and they weren't married. If only he had made the process of leaving her way more inconvenient for both parties, that would truly be love I guess.
