I think the problem is that taking a used condom and trying to impregnate yourself is after the fact.
Still 100% super fucked up thing to do, but it's not the same as if a woman explicitly agreed to only have protected sex and the male partner secretly removed the protection choosing to ejaculate inside her without her consent. Although if a woman removed the condom mid act and kept going until the guy blew his load, that's definitely a more accurate equivalent.
The end result is the same, tho so while it might not be rape by a strict definition, it certainly should be taken with the same seriousness.

I'd say that disagreements are normal to have in a relationship, but “fighting” the way you describe is not good. One of the clearest signs that a relationship isn't going to survive is if either person ever treats the other one with contempt, and it sounds like he does that to you.
It's possible to learn better communication techniques, but he has to want to.
