2. Yeah… This isn't one of those situations that call for summarily dumping a person, IMO. That's not an invalid choice, if in the end you guys can't find a mutually satisfactory solution, or if he lets this get in his head and poison the well, etc., it might end up being the only option

   But any one of us could suddenly have an unexpected health crisis, and we'd probably want our partners to treat us with compassion and to try to work with us to keep the relationship solid, so it's only fair that we try to extend that courtesy to them, too.
