Yeah I had a friend like this who acted almost like with with my bf at the time. They are now married with two children. They are a great couple, I just wish she could have skipped all the lying and manipulating stuff.
The reason why you can’t get over it is that you now know that if the roles were reversed he would not be taking care of you. This was a brief, acute illness and he couldn’t show you a shred of empathy; while you have been his full time caregiver for months without complaint. What you do with that information is up to you.

The only thing that you possibly could have done better, was to actually ask him when he was going to be back when he was going out, instead of assuming that he’d be back at a late, but reasonable time as you both had class the next day.
