Take it from someone who’s father always picked his latest fling over his kids… it will be noticed by them and picked up. First stepmom treated us like absolute garbage and way harsher then her own children and it was noticed. They had many, many fights over it and it was a source of tension in the family for 10+ years. It only stopped when they broke up for unrelated reasons. Now he’s onto third wife and again, prioritizes her over the kids. I’ve been no contact for two years and zero plan to change that anytime soon.
yeahhhh I had a feeling. so glad I'm a lesbian. I think also the AIDS crisis had an effect since most gay people could only rely on each other. it's more taboo to abandon a partner now
Can he actually cook? If so ask when he’s going to express his love by taking his turn. If not try doing it together so he learns and cohabitates equitably. And I’ve known electricians and their labor is not as physically demanding as other construction jobs but can be very mentally taxing along with physical. You can also get easy to throw together meals at the store to quicken time in the kitchen for both. In our house she’s the cook and I’m the chef so daily meals are simple and weekends are feasts. And occasionally we we order pick up.
I find public hair disgusting in general. As such, I keep it smooth. It actually irritates to have any now.
Keep your skin moisturized. That will go a long way.
I’m sorry but “Go make plans with your gay ex!” is killing me ?? man brought out the big guns
Thanks, yes, this is all very sensible. I'm worried to tackle the kids conversation too directly too soon, but I know it needs to come. What I hope I can do is make her see that we aren't so different – that big commitments are also scary to me, but hope to make her see how much stronger we can be as a team.
I also need to make her understand how my journey in my 30s might be close to hers: getting comfortable with a certain status quo, until coming to the realisation later that I was stuck and stagnant and not happy at all
I'm pretty sure I can't use the negative approach of showing how much risk she's taking by trying to keep uncommitted (even if that's how she feels)
