  1. I can never understand people that cry for their exes especially those that treat them the worse.. I mean you are human and you should feel se sort of grief if ever three's any because you and that person was together plus have kids but not this level of crying .. this is bound to make your partner feel bad.. I had an ex that used to cry ever so often for a work friend of hers that died and it was like years ago and she keep crying out of the blue which led me to think they had something.. this is totally unacceptable.. grief yes but not all this crying.. SORRY?

  2. There is nothing you can do, nothing you could have done. Keep doing what you are doing. BF will get over it or he won’t, hopefully he does. Be honest, his friend was nothing special , it makes you sad when he brings it up.

  3. I don’t think this is about actual money at all – but respect.

You chose risk vs reward, but she saw it as total disrespect for her opinion, and then absolute reliance on her to keep yourselves afloat.

Yes things are fine financially now, but I would bet she is still emotionally scarred by the way you dismissed her, and then made her responsible for your survival while you got to chase your dreams.

  4. This happened to me. I chased perps out of the house. Tackled one. Hit my head on pavement. We fought and he eventually slipped away. Fingerprints left behind resulted in an arrest.

Wife said ok you proved you’re a hero, next time we just let them leave.

Downside is we were both traumatized and had trouble sleeping for years.

You protected your girlfriend and home. I applaud you.

It’s too bad about her trauma, but would she rather you be a whimpering coward and not protect her?

  5. He's not happy with his life or his situation.

He either needs a full change (job) or needs therapy and I say that as someone who thinks therapy is a crapshoot.

That said, you pulled up an incident from a few years ago. That seems … odd. A one off isn't an indicated of a black hole. His coworkers could suck.

  6. Thank you, I have a strong gut feeling that I did too. It’s just hot to let go and trust myself for sure

  7. He might very well be depressed but he refuses to talk to anyone. What we know with absolute certainty is that he has horrible personal hygiene. He's here arguing that people can go long without showering. Fair enough.

Here's your argument; “You smell. I can't be in this relationship if this continues.” Unfortunately, you're holding onto this due to the sunk cost fallacy; you don't want to just “throw away” 5 years. But focus on reality. Your boyfriend is essentially gross for lack of a better term. Is this how you want to live forever? Because that's what you're signing up for. Good luck.

  8. The wild swings he takes from “I am doing this for YOU” to “I am doing this for ME”, are mentally exhausting and diametrically opposed.

Seems like a deeply selfish person, hiding that ugliness behind faux concern for you and your life.

I also do not understand what it is you are waiting for, or why you would have to leave the country?

How do I take my power back and keep calm through this uncertain time?

leave him and keep your amazing career and build the life that gives you joy.
