Try to understand that however bad you feel, it doesn't compare to how you made those poor parents feel. Try to have more empathy in the future and figure out why being cruel was so important to you so you can figure out how not to be so cruel in the future. Learning from your mistakes and not repeating is the direction you should be headed towards.

This seems like a weird question. Why don’t guys like me? Well, for a serious relationship, some guys will, most guys won’t. Each guy has different motivations.
On some level we dress and act a certain way because it is what we find attractive. My wife is a doctor. I am a free spirit type with little or no cares. She once was too, wearing sun dresses, following the dead with me, going to quite literally 1000s of music events and festivals. She started med school after kids. A hot challenge for me was that her med school also taught a “professionalism” indoctrination where they had to dress a certain way, behave a certain way, follow certain ethics, etc. If you are young going through it maybe it just seems like “adulting” and the way the world is. But when you are older, you know it is a segment of conformity and you shake your head at the nonsense. Maybe your school didn’t do it, but I think all med schools are somewhat similar.
Anyway, those professional ethics are a conformity that an alt crowd might not be interested in on average. But I wouldn’t doubt that there are a handful of aspiring doctors and aspiring professionals mixed in with the group who would love to get to know you. But the thing is, as you become more defined, there are fewer people statistically who will find that refinement attractive. But if you put yourself in a crowd of more like minded professionals where your nuanced differences like musical taste or hair style show your alt-roots, you’ll likely have more luck.
