I can definitely relate to this. I work in manufacturing and my wife is a nurse so we've both had lots of weird work/sleep schedules and the lack of free time that lines up has definitely caused issues at times. It sounds like you are doing your best to match his sleep schedule and he needs to work on being more understanding when things don't work out. My advice would be to make sure you're discussing on days that you're both rested and it isn't an issue so that it's a less emotional conversation.
For example on what is the equivalent of my “Friday” I get up at 5AM but do my best to stay up until midnight when my wife gets home so we can hang out. Sometimes though I'm just exhausted and have to go to bed before she gets home which would frustrate her. We talked about it a bunch of times and eventually I was able to get her to understand that from my perspective staying up until midnight would be like her staying up until 6AM on her workdays which would obviously be difficult for her. Now she's more understanding when I can't stay up or I'm just super tired when she gets home.
I also find that it's easier if you have something to plan around. If you guys always have Sunday off maybe have a standing date at a certain time that works for you. It may make it easier for you to go to bed earlier on Saturday if you know you need to be up at a certain time, this works for us at least.
It's really not that big of a deal lol the likely hood of her even noticing is pretty low.
