Tell her it's a day to march for women's rights, not a day when your partner celebrates you as a woman. It's a day to push for equal pay and paid maternity leave rather than a day when men have to act gallant.
In my opinion, the comments in your examples don't seem actually helpful at all, even if they might be somehow logically correct, they are not helpful.
Most people are very self conscious about their bodies already, if we are/look too puffy/fat/skinny/whatever, we know that already. It's not helpful to tell us that, it's actually really harmful. We know dieting/hitting the gym/stop eating shit food/eating more food will help us, we are not dumb, but sometimes motivation or discipline or time is not on our side and we just can't do the logically right thing. We don't need others, especially our SOs to tell us that all the time, just be supportive and love us the way we are (or worst case leave). You can ask if she has a belly ache without commenting on her body shape, just say she looks uncomfortable and what's up. She'll correct you if she's fine, but basically telling her, she got bigger is not helpful.
And i get that buying logically useless stuff is shitty if you're not in a good financial spot, but buying stuff we want makes us happy. That's it. That's the use. Doesn't really have to have another practical use otherwise, having it, seeing it, touching it makes us happy and fulfilled, nothing more. And you do want her to be happy right? If you'd rather save money, just say “Honey, i know this stuff makes you happy, but we cannot afford purchases like that right now. Please discuss such things with me beforehand and maybe we can reach a compromise”. Things that seem useless to you are not useless to her, and i bet there are things that you have that she would find useless and never buy herself, but she knows it makes you happy, so she doesn't complain. Making someone happy is a use, it's an important function that keeps us alive and it doesn't need to be logical to you.
