Tell him you're concerned after learning about all this. Ask what he did afterward, what actions he took, specifically, to change.
If he mentions things like: anger management, personal therapy, domestic violence classes, apologizing to his victim, medication changes, etc ok I can believe that some form of change probably occurred.
If he says they broke up and he switched jobs and uh that's it, then I'm sorry gf but that's not enough and I'd proceed with extreme caution.
