Sheer hypocrisy aside, he is being honest with you. Muslim men are allowed to marry non-Muslim women (those of the Abrahamic faiths) without them needing to convert to Islam. The part where you would disagree would be in what faith to raise the children. I suspect he wants you to study the Quran because he will see it as your role to teach them a faith, even though you don’t have to convert to it.
As for the birthday thing, some Muslims believe they are only allowed to celebrate religious holidays; anything else like birthdays or even Mothers Day is considered frivolous.
The way I see it, he has been honest about what his wants and expectations are. You can decide if you find them restrictive or they’re sacrifices you’re willing to make and tolerate to be with this man.
Tell him. This is so unimportant to guys (at least to me). And if he's mature, he'll understand why you lied, as for men, being a virgin at a later age is also “embarrassing” in that moment. He should be glad you came clean (which is a sign of trust).
It also gives you peace of mind. + if he reacts wonderful to it, it gives you the confidence & reassurance you can tell him anything and he'll react properly as well, which is good for your relationship.
Sounds like vaginismus. It happened to me my very first attempt, too. Luckily, mine chilled after the first time, but I also had a drink or two before I tried again. Not necessarily saying that’s what you should do, but it helped me relax a little. I would suggest talking to your doctor about it.
