This might sound rough but are you sure he likes you? This sounds like he’s being very avoidant towards you. Is his mental health okay? Is this new behaviour or has it always been this way? Have you spoken to him about how much this hurts you? You can’t force someone to change but you can find someone more compatible if it’s making you “constantly sad”.
