It’s just wild because my jaw literally dropped when he told me. In the sense that he’s wanted me to be okay with far more extreme situations. Idk why he doesn’t hold himself to the same standard if that’s how he feels?
I get ridiculously emotional which drives us both nuts. Previous trauma and all that. He’s short-fused and often doesn’t let me get a word in if I bring it up. What we decided is that if I need to have a serious talk, I put it in writing (letter or a text). It gives me the time and peace I need to articulate what I want to say in a calm, clear way, and it takes the pressure off of me that would make me emotional. He gets to read it while I’m not in the room, absorb what I’m saying and process his own thoughts on it. Usually then he’ll either send me a reply to say his part, or we’ll jump straight to discussing solutions. It lets us be clear, calm, and avoid bigger blow ups caused by escalating emotions. It’s not for everyone, perhaps, but it works for us!
go to a nice house party at your friend's place in their backyard, get loud music going and the disco lights; and get many friends over, one can achieve a similar ambience/energy to a bar/club, without the risks. So what's wrong in that?

The 50 and 70 yo are closer in life stage than a 35 and a 50 or a 21 and 37.
It's the life stage that's the problem and there are successive changes very quickly the younger a person is.
Get 5 decades under your belt and bar any life altering disaster you are unlikely to change.
