That plan should include letting your family know whats happening, why its happening and the occasional check-in from your side to let them know you're okay. I think you should clear the air with him and have that conversation. But I think your gut instinct may be right. I'm sure he needed space to make a decision and he probably already made it which is why he wants to talk to you.
