It is going to take time. There will be good days and some rough days. Over time the good days will outweigh the bad ones.
When I went through my divorce, I had to go it alone. My family sucks and I had very few friends to confide in and look for support. After drinking a lot, which I do not recommend, I started to focus on taking care of myself. Started to run and eventually made some friends at a few races. Started going to a rock gym and made friends super fast.
I started to search out new things to try and discovered more about myself. It was a journey and over time I became a better me.
“And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.”
I feel like almost every 25+ probably needs therapy at this point…Gen X parents were half-assed astronauts. With this way of thinking, no one should be dating LOL!
Therapy doesn't create solutions overnight, and developing relationships when you're self-aware of what your attachment style is, is completely possible.

He's really showing who he is. Believe him.
Is compassion part of his religious belief system?
Or caring about things that don’t directly affect him?
