He’s never really done that mostly because neither of us live! very exciting life’s so we usually just tell each other about things that occur without anyone asking

Chilling in the city and a leisurely lifestyle is compatible with having a child. Op and partner clearly have enough to support at least one. And a child would benefit more from having a present and happy father then living in a suburb with a yard.
The main problem here is that op’s partner wants a different lifestyle then op.

You need to chill. There are so many factors that limit sexual attraction & gender is just one of them. I have two very awesome queer friends – they're both objectively attractive and we share a bunch of characteristics & hobbies and I'm so grateful to have them in my life.
But it's not all the same connection I have with my wife. There's different forms of relationships & intimacy.
