Your wife is deliberately putting you at risk. It really doesn't matter why she's doing it, she needs to stop doing it. Period. It is so disrespectful to you, and given we are in the middle of increasing violence against trans people it is baffling to me that she would risk your life and safety like this.
We can all offer you our opinions about whether we'd be with a smoker or not (another not from me,) but it's really for you to decide. But I think you need to accept the fact that he is an addict, and stop trying to change him. Because you can't.
