Honestly I don’t believe he’s lying. He’s an honest person to a fault. And there have been countless times where he could’ve lied and I had zero proof (e.g., I was out of town) and it could’ve avoided a fight, and he told me the truth. Time and time again we fight bc of the truth, not a lie.

Don't go home. Call a friend and ask if you can spend the night in their guest room or on their couch.
When he calls to find out where you are, tell him you didn't want to go home because you're too depressed by his lack of caring and the horrible old-dinner smell, and the unwashed dishes. You're not sure when you'll feel like coming home, but definitely not tonight.
