Two of our children were diagnosed with Autism as adults. We tried nude to get our oldest help but qere told she was just spoiled. It was very difficult, sometimes she was violent. Then the younger one started acting the same and I thought I spoiled her too. When she started to get violent with me, I'd hlld her down so she couldn't hurt me. I didn't do it in anger but fear. Now she says I was abusive. She still talks to me but that hurts terribly. I think about how I'd have done things differently if I had known about their diagnosis. Mostly I think the self blame would have helped me. But I feel badly for everyone. Raising a child with autism is difficult and yet being autistic is difficult too.
