IMO, sexual compatibility is a huge part of a lasting marriage. Let's say that you wait until you are married to have sex or do anything sexually. Then after you do have sex, she doesn't enjoy it and just doesn't want to do it anymore. What happens then? Or what if it turns out she just has a really low sex drive? What if she's just really bad in bed and puts in no effort?
Asking you to wait around with no sexual contact for at “minimum” 8 years would be a legitimate deal breaker for me.

If it was just a stupid suggestion, then why did he have all his reasons and arguments thought out? His 'research' done to convince you? He's obviously been thinking about it for some time and now he's trying to shield himself from the consequences.
