I'm not brave enough to do that though and I really care about the image I've built, which is an image a lot of people like and respect a lot. I can't give up on that.
To add: my wife is putting in more work than I am right now. I'm taking a lot of space to just heal, and she's far more actively engaged in both our relationship, and overcoming her own struggles, than I have the energy for. I'm doing a lot of sleeping and resting etc., I'm exhausted, and she's not let a single thing I'm doing stop her from finding resources, reaching out, and so on. I have been given every reason to believe that, at least for now, she's genuinely committed to the major life changes she needs to make for her own self even outside of our relationship.
