You're right… I want to be present with her because while she doesn't know anything about cars (she admits it herself) I am very much a “car guy” with a bit of mechanical knowledge. And I'm afraid I might come across as the pretentious expert to her. But at the same time her stubbornness really shocks me as this is a hill she's clearly willing to die on. At the end of the day it's her money and I could say if she wastes it on a bad purchase that's her problem but I would feel guilty if the car breaks down and the problem is something I could have detected before buying the it.
