Either way, working is probably rough after a 14 year break so she probably had an initial shock hence that reaction to reducing her hours. Maybe she should start first with any kind of work from home job so she can earn a paycheck while she eases back into the work force. At least with working from home, she can have the flexibility of doing chores around the house & dealing with the kids.

As a female who has a partner that refuses to be the breadwinner, I would kill to be in her situation & be so grateful. I would shut up & just do all the chores around the house, deal with the kids, and take any kind of remote job no problem.
