I don't know what the future holds for your family, but if this runs the usual course, Jacob will spend less time with your niblings and they'll come to realize they can't rely on him because he's focused on his NEW family UNTIL he screws THAT family up. Guys just don't go the extra mile to constantly put themselves places where their friends are. If a friend of mine was going to a Syria lecture that I don't have a specific reason to be at, I'd say “uh ok, have fun with that”. I wouldn't sign up for it just for more time with my friend.
