You don't get to decide what she wants even if you are married. You only get to decide if she wants to be a partner you can spend your life with.
Resolve this conversation and recognize that more often than not this means the person was already, or considering straying. Open relationship requests are the death of many relationships for a reason.
I strongly recommend if you don't get a satisfactory answer that you seek an annulment immediately. Satisfactory means you actually feel safe in the relationship and she has reassured you this isn't about someone she wants on the side, and that she will be happy with monogamy.
Do not fold because you are hoping she will become someone you thought she was. Look at who she is and operate on evidence presented, not hopes and aspirations.
Run from this place. These people are all fucking mentally ill. Do not listen to this trash.
Your wife’s story makes perfect sense. Everything adds up. She made a drunken mistake. It was a One Night Stand. It was awful for everyone involved. You must not obsess about this. You need to think first about your family and figure it out with her with compassion and understanding.

They want to justify their own misery with yours and they are taking you into their abyss of abject despair and loneliness. Yes you should 100% take this to HR. Make sure you download a copy of it so that you have documentation in case the guy hears you’re reporting it and tries to delete it.
He sounds like a jerk. Or maybe he didnt realize you were self conscious about that certain thing. Try to lighten up a little and accept yourself. Fuck everyone else. Dont give him the power to hurt you like that, you know what he said is fucked up and not true.
