So I must admit, I am a little confused. I’ve been with my hubby for 6 1/2 years (5 years together, 1 1/2 years married). He’s 37, and I am 29. Why what you did confuses me is because if you really respect your wife, no matter the kind of language used in your daily life, that would have NEVER come out of your mouth. That’s really just what it comes down to is pure respect. If it’s that very hot for you to control yourself, just stop. There’s no tricks, at least not to me. you’ve realized that you messed up, so now you just stop. In all parts of your life. If you find yourself starting to say something, just pause and take a second before you start speaking again. I don’t mean this to come across mean in any way so I apologize if it does, really. I spent my whole childhood and most teen years watching my dad rip my mom apart, and vice versa. It was something I knew I’d never tolerate. And thankfully, my hubby had and would never talk to me like that, even if he doesn’t agree with what I’m saying or is frustrated with me. You just have to make a very conscious effort to not do it.
I’m a bit envious of your wife. Relationship issues aside it seems like she has her sh*t together, at only 25yo, for the future. You can decide if you want to be a part of it or not by becoming a better person. Hopefully you’ll do that before she leaves you.
