The thing for me was that I was raised by a narcissist father that I idolized and wasn't aware of what a narcissist personality disorder was. After a big fight between me and my dad and me doing some research I started realizing that my behaviors were toxic and were not normal. After that I started a new relationship and it's going awesome from some years now. Sometimes the behaviours still resurface but I made sure my partner was aware of them and called them out on me.
