I really appreciate you saying this. I think he’s tired of me resorting to it as a last-ditch effort when for the most part I don’t do regular maintenance on our relationship. He doesn’t want to be with someone who only calls a plumber when the basement is already flooded, so to speak, so he’s disincentivized to go.
I’ll try to say something along these lines to him. My therapist sent me a few couples’ counselors she trusts, so I’m going to let him vet them and decide which one we use, but insist we use one.
